Ann Arbor Potters Guild Student Information
Fall Term 2008 Schedule

We offer evening classes to the adult community, taught by experienced professional artists. Our goal is to create a stimulating learning environment for those people who share our love of artistic expression in clay.

Schedule
Semesters begin in September and February and last 14 weeks. Classes are scheduled for one evening per week for three hours (7:00-10:00). There are two separate class groups, each with 15 students. Students are allowed to work at the guild outside of class hours 15-20 hours per week. Lab hours will be set each semester and remain consistant throughout the semester.

Wait List
The classes are so popular that we cannot accommodate all those wishing to participate every semester. Therefore, we keep an ongoing wait list of those people interested in starting classes when openings occur. It is very helpful to have basic pottery skills and some experience to fully benefit from instruction at the Guild. While one is waiting for a position in a Potters Guild class, we suggest enrolling in other pottery classes from organizations such as the Ann Arbor Art Center, Kay Yourist, or Pewabic Pottery in Detroit.

Evaluation
Students are evaluated each term on technical and aesthetic growth, as well as active participation. Students showing growth and participation can be readmitted for up to three additional semesters. Upon students successful completion of four terms, they may reapply and be placed on the wait list for a future opening.

Fees
The current fee for classes is $300 per semester (fees are subject to change without notice.) This includes not only instruction but clay, glaze materials, kiln firing space and liberal lab hours whenever a member is present.

How to Apply
If you are interested in taking classes, please come by the Guild to talk with a member and see our facilities. At that time, you can fill out an application indicating your ceramic interests and experience. Your completed application will be placed on file with the registrar in the order that it was received. When an opening becomes available, you will be notified.
